Pidgin Podcast Series (AC001) for Child Feeding
Pidgin podcast series is an innovative way to reach many mothers in Nigeria with the infant and young child feeding messages. It is important to note that there is low literacy level among women in and this affects their ability to access health information for themselves and their babies. Their using this approach to bring health information to mothers is both effective and recommended.
These audio series is developed in “pidgin”, a popular language of communication in Nigeria. In Nigeria, pidgin is a great way to communicate effectively.
The objective of creating the pidgin podcast series is to break down complex information and concepts on infant and young child feeding so that mothers can access, understand and apply the IYCF principles to nourish their babies.
In a previous post, I gave a summary of the 10 guiding principles of complementary feeding of the breastfed child. as recommended by WHO and UNICEF. In this episode, the 10 principles have been summarized in pidgin in the audio above. Click on the play button to listen. In subsequent episodes, one principle will be picked and discussed.
In a previous podcast, I also discussed the challenges and solutions to exclusive breastfeeding problems.
If you seek to know more about breastfeeding, learn breastfeeding basics and get properly informed before you have your baby.
I look forward to the next episode where I discuss another principle. I promise it will be educating and engaging.
